My job is to help you sort through the dusty boxes of your mind to help you finally get to the ones you need, and, if it feels OK, we can have a proper clear out along the way. It can take a bit of courage to get this done, but you won’t be in it on your own.

Mind, body, vitality of spirit and our relational connections.

These are the essential and interconnected aspects of your health and wellbeing. No matter which dimension we focus on together, positive change in one part will ripple through to the others, and we can make use of the virtuous circle effect (…its like the vicious circle, but nicer!).

Equally, over-focus on just one area can lead to stuckness or dead-ends. So we will talk, and in addition we will use hypnosis, breath, and work with the body. I may also suggest a few things to do between sessions too. Curious? Book a free call.

Why Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is your mind’s very own superpower. 

During our sessions, I may invite you to close your eyes and follow a few simple instructions. This creates a very natural type of therapeutic hypnosis that allows us to focus on a particular idea or feeling. It’s not like the stage shows. You are aware and in control throughout.

In a hypnotic (or trance) state your memories, your sensations and your creative and sub-conscious mind is much more available.

Different areas of your brain become more active and so emotions and ideas can be re-organised. Problems that your everyday thinking has been working on for years can be solved in an instant. Things that have been weighing you down for years released in a few blinks, leaving you lighter and free. To describe it as a superpower is not at all an understatement.

Time to Thrive courses are simultaneously a communal and also a profoundly personal experience. We have closed groups in small numbers to give trust and connection room to grow. 

Please note - Time to Thrive courses are therapeutic, but they aren’t group therapy. If you have something specific or very personal that you would like to work on please book in for a one to one chat.

  • Therapeutic hypnosis is a much more natural experience than you might expect. It’s an induced state of relaxed focused attention, and it will feel familiar to anyone who has ever gotten lost in a thought, a piece of music or engrossed in a task. It can feel a bit dream-like when you look back, but unlike sleep, you’ll be aware and in control the whole time.

    So you can be assured that you won’t be compelled to quack like a duck or do silly things. Instead you’ll have a new experience which can help you feel better about yourself and the world around you.

  • Yes, online and in-person sessions both work really well. I’d say you should go with whichever is most comfortable for you. You might prefer to be in a neutral place away from your everyday life, or you might find the convenience of not having to travel suits you better.

    If we work online please make sure…

    • You have a good internet connection.

    • You are in a private room where you won’t be disturbed or distracted.

    • You have a comfortable place to sit.

    • You can see the screen and the camera without having to hold your device in your hand.

    • If you have earbuds/headphones you can make use of them if you’d like.

    Also, don’t worry about “being stuck in hypnosis” you are aware and in control the whole time, so if we get disconnected you will naturally come back to normal awareness and you’ll be completely safe.

  • Yes, absolutely. I can work with ages 7years +. As it doesn’t rely so heavily on dialogue hypnosis can be particularly effective with children and young people, and can help with issues a range of issues including nightmares, bullying, life changes and exam stress. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

  • I know how you feel, I’ve been there too. I’m guessing you’re feeling deflated, hopeless and defeated? Maybe some things helped for a bit, but the impact didn’t last? That’s OK. It’s not a ‘you’ problem and it doesn’t mean there’s something ‘unfixable’. I think of difficulties like this as bad weeds. Until we get the whole root out it’ll keep popping up.

  • The work we do shouldn’t contradict or detract from any other health, wellness or healing activities you are engaging in.

    Hypnotherapy is recognised by the GMC (General Medical Council) and the NHS (National Health Service) as complementary to many medical treatments.

  • When get upset our body responds. It might be tense muscles, IBS, poor sleep, fatigue or blood pressure. Equally, when our body is in pain or stress, our mind fills with worry, blame, catastrophising, and negative or repetitive thinking. So, it’s common sense that a change in one creates or strengthens change in the other (it’s that virtuous circle again!).

    We know now too that the body can store distress and trauma as a type of muscle memory that is so deeply integrated it isn’t verbal or conscious and that working with the body is essential in the healing process.

    So we might use movement or breathing to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which supports your health, growth, and restoration, or we might explore other approaches more specific to your needs.

    It’s true that some of these ideas have been associated with alternative lifestyles in the past. However, including the body in emotional healing is now a widely accepted modern therapeutic principal. So, it turns out them hippies were really onto something!

  • Firstly, if it’s easier for you, do feel free to call or text me to arrange your appointment and we can put something in the diary the ‘old fashioned’ way!

    However, online booking is also available. When you click one of the ‘book a session’ buttons you will be directed to my booking system page.

    If you are booking your first session then please choose either the Breakthrough package (3 sessions) or the Fresh Start package (6 sessions). You can then choose a time and a date that suits you. Payment will also be requested at this point.

    If you are booking sessions that you have already paid for, please choose the ‘pre-paid session’ option, you can then book without payment being requested again.

    If you have worked with me already you can go ahead and book a one-off Top-up session.

  • Transformations can happen in an instant, and so it makes sense to ask why you would want 3 or 6 sessions.

    The answer is that we are looking to help you achieve change that lasts. We can’t fix a problem without getting to really understand it, and we can’t be confident that change is lasting until we test it out and address any bumps along the way.

    I’ve found that working in blocks of 3 or 6 is the most effective way of helping my clients make the changes that mean the most to them. See sessions details here.

  • The terrorist attacks on Paris in 2015 and the aftershocks it created had profound effect on me. In the aftermath I was struck by contrasts in the public dialogue. There was extreme courage and terrifying intolerance. I had a busy and successful gardening business at the time, but the joy it brought me felt somehow uprooted. I know there have been worse atrocities, and injustices even closer to home, but for a reason I can’t explain this one really shook me. It made the world feel suddenly very unsafe.

    The shock froze me, I withdrew and felt unsteady for a time. But something in me said ‘no’. I was viscerally aware that I couldn’t change the world. Thankfully the helplessness of that idea was replaced with the realisation that I may not be able to change the world but I could change my world. I focused and I read all I could, I trained and learned. And my journey began.

    My evolution as a hypnotherapist has included foundations in conflict resolution, mindfulness and play. This has given me a broad base to help my clients heal from hurts, build resilience and rediscover pleasure in life.
